Made it to Rome!

Hey guys! Hows it going over there in the States? I made it to Rome today. Its been a crazy trip so far.

We first got to Graz, Austria after a 31 hour journey (I did not sleep a wink, mind you). We ended up having to take 3 planes, 1 bus, 2 subways and a train. But we finally made it! The flight overseas was brutal. I got bored after about hour 3.

Finally in Graz! The city is gorgeous. We hiked to the top of the "Castle Hill" and looked out over the enitre city. I absolutely love how all the rooftops are the same. I also discovered in Graz how much beer and alcohol everyone likes to drink! I couldnt keep up half the time!

The first stop on our journey was to Venice. I cannot get over how gorgeous that city is. You wouldve loved it Heather! The water goes right up to the buidings. And I am pretty sure there is some law there that people are required to put flowers on their balconies because everyone had cascading flowers on their windowsills. We spent one day getting lost in Venice and the other days on the islands of Murano and Burano. The people that live there have to be the luckiest people in the world. Every house was a different color (reds and greens and yellows and blues) They must be so happy all the time!

Now we are in Rome... finally. It was a crazy time getting here too. Let me just say. It was not a good time for the Metro employees to go on strike in Italy. But alas we are here!! We just had to tweak our trip a little.

Wish us luck and keep the prayers coming! So far every journey has had a little problem that has happened to make us change our travel plans, but I just keep thinking hopefully we are getting these problems out of the way early!

Hope you guys are having a great summer over there!! As much fun as I am having in Europe, I cant wait to get back to see people.

P.S. I am gonna try to load a few photos to share when I get to a better Internet cafe. My card doesnt work at this one, plus I think I am running out of time. This is costing 1.5 euros!! You can probably go to mercerallison.blogspot.com or carinastamey.blogspot.com to see better pictures. They are more computer savvy than I am.

And if my typing is a little funny it is because Italian keyboards are different.

Alex. you were right... The toilets are funny here.
